Jim Behrle is usually right on target. It's not that I am too cowardly to take him to task for his "excesses," for fear of being a target myself, but that I agree with what he says. For example, he was completely correct about Kent Johnson, from day one. If I had listened to Jim earlier, I could have just spared myself more fruitless engagements with him.

He is on target on Silliman. Always has been. Ron takes it in stride because it's not really malicious.

What you don't know from people's blogs is if they are more or less assholic in real life than the asshole they play on the internet. Ultimately it all shakes down to the same thing, though. If I act like an asshole on the blog, don't think I'm a nice guy in non-blog life.

I could be flamed by others just for liking Jim. I don't think I'm being "courageous" either way. I'm not jumping into a burning building by expressing an opinion on a blog.

I'm an even more unbearable dickhead in person: my breath is ever mysteriously garlicy.

Who is accusing you of being cowardly? I can do the Darth Jimmy thing on them. Is the coward who calls someone a coward a double coward?

It would really help my street cred immensely if you would call me a "douchebag" publicly, by the way...

I've met Mr. Behrle. He set up a poetry reading for me, which was an enormous success. They are still talking about it in Boston, the puddly little swamp-hole to the north of me. Take my word for it : he is a sweet, cuddly little guy who likes to wear a beanie. He would not hurt a fly, even if it stepped on him, he is that small. & that nice. Flies love him. He is Lord of the Flies. But nice.

This gives you an idea of supercommunication between superfriendly superpersonalities via supercomputer, which all of us superpoets have learned to use in a truly super way.

I'm going back to work now. I have a meeting with my superintendent.

I hurt a fly one time and it has haunted me all my days. Sniffle. A fly named "Gertie." *Sob!*

I am the starting center for the Smurf CYO Basketball team, so not as short as some. Taller than Tom Cruise but not Katie Holmes.

Do people really think that if Jonathan attacked me publicly I would change my behavior? That's a good one. He's my favorite Jayhawk since Paul Pierce, but come on--you have to get at me through beautiful women, people! I stopped listening to guy's opinions a long time ago...

I don't want to win blog popularity contests: I want to make the world a better place. Obviously, if I was the ultimate dictator who controlled everything, goodness would ensue. I was hardly trying in my blog war against the Wonder Twins: I am determined to shine the light on the ways poets act that piss me off. Anyone who can't handle what I bring probably shouldn't joke about me and cocaine: that's some free advice.

PS: And what do you mean "usually" on target????

What I'm saying, if you agree with Jim Behrle, stand behind him, earnestly or not. Don't be embarrassed to say you like what he does. If you're reading him daily, you must like what he's doing.

I don't even like what I'm doing every day. Why should anyone else?

Everyone remembers this Simpsons: "The blues isn't about feeling better--it's about making other people feel worse."
