The Anxiety of Citation
A woman who was on the doctoral defense with me in Spain gave me her book, in which she says that she cites me extensively. Curiously, i have not looked at it yet to see what she says. I do not need someone to agree with me: it is enough that I am one of the ones framing the debate. Still, I want to be cited correctly.

Good luck on that. Speaking now as a copyeditor, I'd say that 3/4ths of the essays I've handled include misquotation. Carelessness, not misrepresentation.
I think it's great to have people read and discuss your work. To me, that means that you have had a real impact on the way others are being shaped.
