The worst reason for not liking something is that you think it is "elitist" to like it. Then you're letting yourself be blackmailed by the idea that somewhere else, someone else wouldn't be able to enjoy it. Has that ever happened to you?
I think I can honestly say, never. And I certainly have resisted things -- art -- because they're accessible. I guess that makes me an elitist.
My anti-intellectual streak surfaces elsewhere, in a resistance to the idea that the experts (on art in particular) have something to teach me. That's what led me to give up on the music major, and avoid almost all literature classes. Older now, I'm at least a little wiser in this respect.
