The best Pandora radio station I have invented so far is "Lee Konitz." After Konitz himself, it gave me Coltrane, Rollins, and Charlie Haden, before going back to the inimitable Konitz again. This is even better than what "Sonny Rollins" gave me.

And why does it think that if I like Sarah Vaughan I will like Blossom Dearie? That's an illegitimate inference.

And if you put in "Morton Feldman," it will not actually give you any music by Morton Feldman. Everyone but him.

Haha...I don't think Pandora is that sophisticated. It just sees two female jazz singers and is satisfied. My Count Basie station gives me Doc Severinson.

Ah Pandora.

My Salif Keita station didn't give me Salif Keita until I demanded it.

And all my African stations have a lot of soft blues on them unless I tell Pandora to stop.

The other thing about Pandora is that, pace Matt above, it actually does have a complex algorithm which tends to narrow down the rhythmic possibilities on a station, so you kind of get the same beat over and over and over... at least that's what I get too often.
