One year ago today on Bemsha Swing I was criticizing Rexroth's Tu Fu. Now this seems much less objectionable to me than it did a year ago.
Rexroth's Tu Fu is certainly better than Vikram Seth's Du Fu (and I love The Golden Gate). But a Chinese woman I work with says that both completely trivialize the poems.
