"The very existence of poetry should make us laugh. What is it all about? What is it for?"

diferentes partes del relato, separadas por blancos, se proponen como piezas permutables.”

My students know a poet named "Saul Williams" who came here and impressed them with his performance. Yet I, who know the names of maybe 500 contemporary poets, have never heard of Saul Williams.
He came out of the Slam movement. I heard him read. Liked him OK. During the question and answer session, I asked him who some of his favorite poets were. He hemmed and hawed, finally answered "Common," and said he hadn't ever read much poetry in his life, that rap was his big influence.
I'm not surprised you haven't heard of him, but please be assured he hasn't heard of you either.

Very few people have heard of me. Maybe 125 other poetry bloggers.
My comment sounded snarky; sorry.
When I heard him (a few years ago), he probably hadn't heard of Wallace Stevens either.
